The front fascia on the Charger SRT Hellcat Widebody includes the mail-slot grille, providing for additional cool air to travel into the radiator to help maintain ideal operating temperature even in the hottest conditions. Charger SRT Hellcat models use the wheel speed sensors to watch for signs that the tires are slipping/sticking. If hop is detected, the engine control module momentarily reduces torque to maximize traction almost instantly – without the driver having to lift the throttle. Horsepower of the new Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye comes from the limited-production 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. The supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI high-output V8 boasts 797hp and 707 lb.-ft. of torque (958Nm) and is mated to a TorqueFlite 8HP90 eight-speed automatic.

Ce moteur V8 spécifique est équipé d’un compresseur volumétrique de 2,7L au lieu de 2,4L de la Hellcat de série précédente. Ainsi, sa pression passe de 11,6 à 14,5 psi. Internal changes to the transmission in the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye include an upgraded torque converter. The Charger Redeye’s torque converter delivers an 18% increase in torque multiplication when compared with the standard Charger SRT Hellcat.

Like its Demon brethren, the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye’s engine has 25 major component upgrades, including a larger supercharger, strengthened connecting rods and pistons, high-speed valve train, fuel injection system and improved lubrication system.

HEMI ?

Dénomination gardée, devenu une marque de fabrique, le terme HEMI pour hémispérical, dont les chambres de combustion ne sont plus vraiment hémisphériques, comme autre fois, utilisent un système d’allumage sans distributeur à bobine sur bougie et deux bougies par cylindre pour raccourcir la course de la flamme, ce qui permet une meilleur combustion.

Largest factory supercharger of any production car – 2.7 liters versus 2.4 liters

La version Demon du HRMI V8 présente un certain nombre d’améliorations par rapport à la variante Hellcat. Elle est équipée d’un twin-screw supercharger (compresseur à double hélices) de 2.7L plus grand, ainsi que de composants renforcés, d’un nouvel arbre à cames et de plusieurs autres améliorations de la commande des soupapes.

Bien que l’alésage et la course soient identiques à ceux de l’Hellcat, l’alésage de 103,9 mm et la course de 90,9 mm, le bloc dispose de bouchons principaux considérablement renforcés pour augmenter la charge et la rigidité. La surface du tablier reçoit le même traitement pour augmenter la charge de serrage sur les culasses et contenir l’augmentation de la puissance. Afin de maintenir les alésages avec la charge supplémentaire une plaque de serrage est utilisée.

Le système d’huilage a été revu avec une pompe à haut débit. Le système d’huilage est complété un ramasseur d’huile redessinés.

Un vilebrequin redessiné, des pistons forgés renforcés et des bielles forgées avec des boulons de la série ARP 2000, alliage d’aciers de hauts grades, spécialement optimisé afin d’offrir une résistance accrue par rapport au 8740, pour des charges jusqu’à 220’000 psi (pound per square inch), contribuent à renforcer l’ensemble.

Garder le nouveau flux d’air froid est une première dans l’industrie. Dénommé ‘Power Chiller SRT’, le système est la moitié d’un système de refroidissement à deux volets. Un interrefroidisseur air-eau conventionnel avec échangeurs de chaleur montés dans le collecteur d’admission, sous la soufflante, est alimenté en liquide de refroidissement par une pompe électrique de 45lpm et travaille constamment pour refroidir la charge d’admission.

SRT Power Chiller?

The innovative, award-winning SRT Power Chiller, standard on the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye only, lowers the intake air temperature further, resulting in improved performance. It diverts the air-conditioning refrigerant from the cabin to a chiller unit mounted by the low-temperature circuit coolant pump. Charge air coolant, after being cooled by ambient air passing through a low-temperature radiator at the front of the vehicle, flows through the chiller unit, where it is further cooled. The chilled coolant then flows to the heat exchangers in the supercharger.

Racing Cooldown

Racing Cooldown, also an industry first, minimizes any heat soak effects, allowing the engine to stay in optimum operating temperature. When the engine shuts down, the Cooldown feature keeps the engine’s cooling fan and low-temperature circuit coolant pump running to lower the supercharger/charge air cooler temperature.



Cooldown was first featured on the Challenger SRT Demon in 2018 and became standard on the Charger SRT Hellcat in 2019.

The innovative, quick-shifting TorqueFlite (Chrysler Corporation’s automatic transmissions) 8-speed gearbox transmission is standard on all Charger models and provides optimized fuel economy while enabling maximum performance with 160-millisecond shifts and rev-matching

Torque Reserve: Becomes active once the engine speed passes 950 rpm. The system closes the bypass valve, “prefilling” the intake with boost, manages fuel flow to cylinders and manages spark timing to balance engine rpm and torque
